A Cosmic Getaway in Santa Monica
The Ask:
With Texas in the direct path of the 2024 total eclipse, Travel Texas launched a 2022 campaign to position the state as the ultimate astrotourism destination. The goal? Get LA travelers to ditch the city lights for the starlit skies of West Texas. Leveraging social media, PR, influencers, and sensory marketing, the campaign aimed to transport urban explorers from LA’s haze to Texas’ celestial wonder.
The Answer:
We brought the Texas night sky to Santa Monica Place with a 12’x12’ immersive installation. Visitors registered via Woobox, stepped inside to experience a stunning video of Texas’ dark skies—complete with ambient sounds and scents—and left with star-gazing wheels and Texas swag, reminding them to book their trip for the real thing.
The Impact:
Nearly 4,000 visitors experienced Texas under the stars, generating 65,000 media impressions, 3,000+ swag giveaways, and a 50% spike in Travel Texas web traffic.
